Room 3D Release Notes

1.0.0 — October 2026

The first release of Room 3D: build 3D rooms for GameMaker, which has no 3D room editor of its own.

Rooms

  • Put 3D models in a room, then move, turn and scale them with handles on the model, or type exact values in the Inspector.
  • Snap moves, turns and sizes to steps you choose, or hold Cmd while dragging.
  • Look at the room in perspective or from the front, side and top; frame the selection or the whole room.
  • Undo and redo everything you do to the room.
  • Save your work as a Room 3D project (.r3d), open it again later, and keep a list of recent projects. Save As and Collect copies every model file beside the project.

Models and characters

  • Open GLB, glTF, FBX and OBJ models (older FBX, Collada and 3DS files too, with Assimp installed). Their animations come along.
  • Start from a premade character: a mannequin, a commando, a zombie, teen adventurers, a knight, a robot and townspeople, all rigged and ready to animate.
  • The Library shows every open model as a picture; double-click one to put it in the room.
  • Save any model, with its animations, as a GLB file.

Animation

  • Play, pause, loop and scrub each thing's animation on the Timeline.
  • The Animation Library: browse a folder of animation files, try each one on your character, and add the ones you like. Animations made for one skeleton are fitted to another.
  • Combine Animations: put animations from several files onto one character (needs Blender).
  • Attach things to bones, such as a sword to a hand, so they move with the animation.
  • Mark events on animation frames (a footstep, a sword hit) for your GameMaker code.

Collision

  • Give each thing a collision shape: box, sphere, capsule or its own mesh, fitted to the model.
  • The GameMaker kit includes collision code: moving with slopes and stairs, ray casts and hit tests.

Saving to GameMaker

  • Save to GameMaker writes the room, its models, textures and animations, and the objects into your GameMaker project, with a kit of scripts and a shader that draws it all.
  • Save Model to GameMaker adds a single model and the kit, for your own rooms.
  • Lights, fog and distance culling settings for the GameMaker side.

The app

  • A dark, focused workspace: menus, an icon toolbar, the Outliner, the Library, the Inspector, the Timeline and a status bar. Resize or hide the panels; Room 3D remembers your layout.
  • A Welcome window with your recent projects and the premade characters.
  • Room 3D Help (F1) with a search, the full manual on guidrygames.com, and a list of every keyboard shortcut.
  • Your Guidry Games account: sign in to use your licence on up to two computers.
  • A free trial of 7 days of use: everything works. After the trial, Room 3D keeps working (open, edit and save your projects); saving to GameMaker and as GLB need a licence. Buy Room 3D on guidrygames.com or enter a licence key.
  • Check for Updates, by itself once a day (you can turn it off in Preferences) or from the Help menu.
  • Report a Problem writes an email to us with your Room 3D and macOS versions filled in.
