Retro Arcade Essentials

Coins, jumps, power-ups, lasers, explosions, hits, menu blips and short game jingles: 124 retro sound effects for arcade, platform and action games. Every sound comes clean (16-bit, 44.1 kHz) and 8-bit (crunchy, like an old console), and the sounds a game plays again and again come in 4 variants each, so your game never sounds stuck on repeat. Levelled to the same loudness, trimmed and click-free, as WAV and OGG, ready to drop into GameMaker, Godot 4 or any engine. Made with the Sound Maker in Room 3D, where you can open and change every one.

  • 124 sounds in 10 categories, 326 files (WAV and OGG)
  • Clean (16-bit, 44.1 kHz) and 8-bit versions of every sound
  • 4 variants each of the 13 most-repeated sounds (coins, jumps, shots, hits, typing...)
  • Levelled to the same loudness, peaks at -0.9 dBFS or lower, no clicks
  • GameMaker LTS 2026+: a project with every sound as a sound asset
  • Godot 4.7: every sound and a demo that lists and plays them
  • Room 3D Sound Maker files to open and change every sound

Engine notes

  • GameMaker (LTS 2026 and newer): open the project, or bring its sound assets into your own game; audio_play_sound(snd_arcade_coin_01, 0, false).
  • Godot 4.7: copy the sounds folder into your project and play any WAV on an AudioStreamPlayer; the demo scene shows a small player pool and a random-variant helper.
  • Room 3D: open any .r3dsound in Window > Sound Maker (Room 3D 1.4 and newer), change it, then keep it in your project, save it to GameMaker or Godot, or export a WAV.
  • Any other engine: use the WAV or OGG files.

Questions

Do I need Room 3D?

No. The WAV and OGG files work in any engine, and the GameMaker and Godot projects work on their own. The .r3dsound files are extras for Room 3D's Sound Maker, where you can open and change each sound.

What's the difference between clean and 8-bit?

Clean is the full-quality sound. 8-bit is the same sound roughened like an old console (fewer levels, a lower sample rate). Use one or mix both.

Why are there numbered versions of some sounds?

Coins, jumps, shots, hits and other sounds a game plays many times come as _01 to _04: small changes in each, so playing one at random never sounds like a loop.

WAV or OGG?

Both are in the pack, with the same sounds. WAV is full quality and best for editing and for loops; OGG files are much smaller, handy for web and mobile builds.

Can I use them in a commercial game?

Yes, in any number of your own games, apps and videos, free or paid. You can't resell or share the sounds as a sound pack.

Is there a bundle?

Yes: the Guidry Games Sound Bundle has all five sound packs for $23.99 (the packs are $7.99 each).

How do I get it after paying?
